Mark Making

1. As this the artist of this piece, what was your main objective?

As the artist of this piece, my main objective was to fill a portrait in with all different words. I did Ariana Grande, so I filled in her portrait with all different titles of her songs.

2. What tools did we primarily use for this project?

For this project, one tool that I used was the paintbrush tool, to create different custom paintbrushes, to paint the words on the portrait. Another tool that I used was the rectangular marquee tool, to grasp the black, white, and different shades of gray, to fill in those particular sections with words.

3. What were some of the challenges you faced during this project?

One challenge that I faced during this project was trying to get the words to look like they made up a portrait of someone. Another challenge that I faced during this project was trying to place the words properly and size them properly, on the portrait.

4. One of the requirements of this project was to make a custom paintbrush. How did you accomplish this and what kind of brushes did you make?

I accomplished making my custom brushes by putting the words into the rectangular marquee tool and then pressing "define brush preset" and then, my brush was created. The kind of brushes that I made were brushes made out of words. Since my portrait was Ariana Grande, I made my brushes into her songs. The brushes were "Side to Side", "Into You", "Bang Bang", "Dangerous Woman", "Break Free", and "Problem".

5. An important requirement for this project was about defining your values. Making sure each value does not blend with the others. There are multiple ways to go about this. How did you accomplish this?

I accomplished this by having each different song title be a different value. The black value was "Side to Side", the dark gray value was "Into You", the lightest dark gray value was "Bang Bang", the medium gray value was "Dangerous Woman", the light gray value was "Break Free", and lastly, the white value was "Problem".
